slender and supertall, Shop architects‘ 111 west 57th street skyscraper sees the completion of its exterior architecture. the tapering tower has little by little grow to be a new icon for new york‘s skyline with its simple, stepping side profile, and has now created its mark on the town at the foot of central park.
mounting to a top of 1,428 toes (435 meters), the tower is the tallest household making in the western hemisphere. it emerges from the landmarked ‘steinway corridor,’ developed in 1925 by the architects of grand central station and property steinway & sons piano company. honoring the craft of the steinway piano together with the essential link to outdated new york, the tower integrates meticulous ornamentation together its facade and interiors (see designboom’s earlier protection right here) which reinterprets historic motifs with a present-day expression.

Shop architects transforms the city
the 111 west 57th road tower by Shop architects (see much more listed here) introduces a whole of 60 residences together the foundation of central park. fourteen of these houses will be situated inside the renovated landmarked setting up while 46 entire-ground and duplex residences will be within just the new tower. though the team now celebrates the completion of the exterior architecture, interiors by studio sofield (see more listed here) are before long to be revealed.
