‘Even if it is a museum, points do not have to be awkward,’ states Stokke. ‘You can swiftly draw some slim flat wood benches with slim leather cushions. But we needed guests to be able to consider a split and definitely rest. And then you are likely to will need ergonomics in the back and a shaped seat.’

Created in collaboration with Engesvik (the two designers, as effectively as Vestre, won a public competitiveness to structure the collection in 2017), the home furniture pieces feature levels of metal mesh arranged about steel frames and moulded cushions built of wool textile. The colour palette was one more vital component to take into account the designers analysed hundreds of Munch’s paintings and worked closely with Norwegian paint maker Jotun to generate bespoke shades for the home furnishings. Each and every piece was manufactured so that even if its color fades following a several many years, it will be easy to sandblast it and repaint it. ‘The museum will draw in men and women from all in excess of the earth: it is a perfect arena to promote what we contact day to day democracy, meeting spots in which folks can arrive together and share ideas, existence experiences, and exchange thoughts,’ claims Thomas Sund, Vestre’s vice CEO.

‘When anything is truly excellent and of higher high quality, it will become common,’ adds Engesvik. ‘The structure is very fundamental, it has no techniques. If persons fully grasp what they see, they come to feel protected.’ §
